Free artist demonstrations:
Sept. 7th 11:00-1:00
Artist: Wendy Sue Quine
“Follow the Yellow Dirt Road”
Watercolorist and instructor Wendy Sue Quine will be demonstrating her techniques in creating a desert landscape. From a soft blue-sky wash, clouds gently “lifted” out of the painting, to using a sea sponge to create a mesquite tree, Wendy Sue will lead viewers through her painting process, quite literally by taking them up a yellow dirt road into the beauty of the desert.
Sept. 21st 11:00-1:00
“Playing in Clay”
Various WAC Clay Group Artists
If you’ve ever wondered how an artist takes a simple mound of clay and turns it into interesting and often useful objects, this demonstration will provide viewers with the answers. Members of Wickenburg Art Club’s Clay Group will show you the various stages of making ceramics and the variety of pieces that can be made using some basic techniques. Coils, pinch pots, and clay slabs will be used by the artists to demonstrate how these techniques are used to turn clay into a myriad of different and unusual pieces of art.
