- [Claire Perkins](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/claire-perkins/) - After working for 20+ years as a computer programmer in the corporate world, I experienced a level of burnout that left me longing for change. My first foray into the art world was through the door of art-as-therapy. I studied with the late art therapist and prolific author, Lucia Capacchione, PhD, ATR, and became a certified coach of her methods of journaling and expressive arts. My work with Dr. Capacchione created a profound shift from the predominantly left-brained computer geek I had been, and awakened the more right-brained, creative artist that has been lying dormant In me for my entire life. As this new self emerged, I explored many mediums including acrylics, watercolor, pastels, colored pencil, mixed media and collage. After participating in a 3-D mosaic workshop with Debra Mager a few years ago, I immediately recognized that I had finally found the medium my creative heart had been looking for. I enjoy reusing old discarding jewelry, semi-precious stones, tile, glass, beads, buttons, and other trinkets to create my mosaic pieces. I build connections through color, shape, theme and texture. I blow the dust off thrift store cast offs and bring them back to life with new sparkle and shine. I delight in creating playful and imaginative birds, animals and insects. My work is sometimes whimsical, sometimes mystical and often grounded in nature and the divine feminine.
- [Sally Clark](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/sally-clark/) - After a childhood of frustration with drawing that never seemed to match what I saw, my journey as a pastel artist began unexpectedly in my early 30s. It wasn't until a friend persuaded me to take a $6 drawing class that everything changed. What started with simple shapes and shading evolved quickly into a newfound passion when I discovered I could create recognizable portraits. With growing confidence in my abilities, I explored portraiture and animal studies, falling in love with the vibrant depth and texture of pastels. Today, I create art that reflects not just technical skill but the joy of discovering a hidden talent and the power of seeing the world—people, animals, and all—in vivid color.
- [Marla Smith](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/marla-smith/) - More than 30 years ago in reflecting of my love of our beautiful Southwest, I decided to begin a visual portrayal of scenes that I’ve been fascinated with my whole life. This lead me to begin my artists journey. I am so fortunate to be involved in the ranching industry and live on a beautiful ranch NW of Prescott as well as a location here in Wickenburg, where we enjoy the winter here. I have such an opportunity for references and subject matter, right out my door. I enjoy creating these scenes of our everyday life and hopefully give others a peek into our corner of the world. My place is in the West, and I am always inspired by my surroundings. I give thanks to our Creator who makes all things possible.
- [Pam Kraft](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/pam-kraft/) - Hi! I am Pamela Kraft I’m a painter known for capturing the distinctive light and vibrant colors of the American West. After earning my BFA in Visual Arts from Michigan State University, I moved west to Wyoming, where the landscape and community inspired my signature style. I married a rancher and taught art in rural Wyoming for over 30 years and was honored as Wyoming Art Educator of the Year, a Fulbright Scholar, and received the Milken National Educator and Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Power of Art Awards, among others. During that time, I raised my two daughters, who are now grown. Now That I have retired from teaching, I focus on my art and split my time between a cattle ranch in Wyoming and a home in Congress, Arizona. My works have been showcased at venues such as the University of Wyoming Art Museum, The Desert Caballeros Western Museum, the Wickenburg Art Center, Gallery 123 in Casper, WY, and Rock, Paper, Scissors Gallery in Cheyenne, WY. have received numerous Best of Show and People’s Choice Awards.

The rugged desert vistas, breathtaking sunsets and the captivating stories of the past weren't just my surroundings, they became an integral part of who I am today. This also is what inspires my oil paintings reflecting not just what I see, but how I feel about the region I hold so dear. My art is deeply rooted in the southwest spirit, history, and landscapes of the Southwest. Whether it's a solitary saguaro standing proudly against a dramatic sky, the quiet dignity of an old mission, or the story of miners and settlers carving out their lives in this rugged terrain, I strive to capture more than just the scene. I aim to evoke a sense of place and time creating something that feels alive and deeply resonates with the viewer. Now living in Arizona, I am surrounded by stunning vistas and cultural richness that continue to fuel my creativity. My goal is simple: to keep telling stories of the Southwest through my paintings, preserving its beauty and heritage while sharing a piece of my journey with those who view my art. I have a Master Degree in HHL, I know what you are thinking, What is a HHL? Many of us has one but, most just don't know it. "Home Hobby Lobby" degree This year I have banned myself from two things: Amazon...no explanation No new hobbies or crafts. I have a large collection of many hobbies and crafts! Boxes full of: A. Sewing Material B. Scrapbook paper and cardstock C. Stamps and Dies D. Paint and brushes E. Ribbon F. Piano/Vocal Music G. and more, "Oh my" I've always enjoyed creative outlets—knitting, quilting, rag and porcelain dolls, making greeting cards, playing the piano and singing to name just a few. I won't go into awards or degrees that I have received...."BORNING" that is in the past, and we don't know what the future will bring. BUT, the present is now. My initials are L T J H, I put them to "Let The Journey Happen" and that's what I want to do. Everyday is a new journey and what is happening is up to me. The last four years I have been doing acrylic painting. No art schooling just books and yes, "You Tube". The last six months I discovered "Diamond Art" and enjoyed it in the hot summer. - [Gina Beck](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/gina-beck/) - Being a native of Arizona, Gina has a passion for painting all subjects of the Wild West including colorful horses, rodeo scenes, desert landscapes, and desert animals. Gina’s paintings invite you in with their festival of swirling colors and slightly whimsical style. Gina’s professional career started 37 years ago with a Tole and Decorative painting classes and from there continued to grow. She has been teaching, creating and painting ever since. After graduating from Northland Pioneer College with an Associate Degree in Fine Art, she moved with her family to Las Vegas, NV and designed painted clothing for the Tropicana Hotel, Hilton and many other shops in town. Gina continued her education and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s degree in Fine Art. Gina currently owns a shop/gallery in Wickenburg, Arizona where she displays her creations of paintings, painted furniture and 3D designs.
- [Barry Richardson](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/barry-richardson/) - Barry Richardson began his creative journey as a woodworking hobbyist. After ending his career with the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams, he began pursuing his passion for creating in earnest. Using skills and equipment accumulated over the years, he mines his experiences from global travel, the beauty of marine life, and nature in general as inspiration for his work. His love for wood began as a child, growing up in the wooded landscape of rural Missouri. This canopy served as his playground, emotional sanctuary, and constant source of wonder. "Artistic furniture, sculpture, carving, and turning are my focus areas for design and creation. I use reclaimed local wood whenever possible." Barry is a juried member of the Wickenburg Art Club, the Sedona Art Center, and belongs to the American Association of Woodturners. His work has been featured in a year- long exhibit in Goodyear’s City Hall, featured at the Shemer Art Center in Phoenix, and was jury selected for the 5-year anniversary Gallery Show at the Tempe Center for the Arts. He currently shows his work in the Wickenburg Art Center, and the Sedona Art Center. Barry and his wife Laura live in Buckeye AZ .

I’m self-taught having spend considerable time with online tutorials. I live in Wickenburg and find tons of inspiration from the surrounding area. - [Laura L. Gates](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/laura-l-gates/) - Laura grew up in PA Dutch farm country near the Appalachian trail. One of her favorite places to spend time was Hawk Mountain, a major migration fly way. As a young adult she developed a love of the outdoors and spent time hiking and canoe tripping in Canada and Maine. She did not begin painting until she was in her fifties having spent her work life as a social worker and family therapist. After moving to the southwest, she began taking lessons from local artists as she developed her style with a focus on landscape painting in watercolor and oil. As an avid hiker, many of her paintings illustrate the places she has hiked including Ireland, Peru, the Grand Canyon and Utah’s Bif 5. She aspires to share the beauty, vivid color and peacefulness of being in nature within her paintings.
- [Wendy Sue Quine](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/wendy-sue-quine-2/) - Wendy Sue grew up in Southern California drawing the animals and mountains and beaches she loved. Most of her formal art education was from Indiana University, Bloomington, and University of St. Francis, Ft. Wayne, IN. While painting and teaching in Tucson in the 80s she studied with watercolorists Tom Hill and Zoltan Szabo. She was juried into the Southern Arizona Water Color Guild and enjoyed showing and selling her work in their events. The magnificent southwestern landscape held a special place in her heart, but, alas, family and career and life kept her from pursuing painting full-time until retirement. Involvement in San Diego Watercolor Society and Redlands Art Association provided many opportunities to show and sell her work and learn from other artists. Workshops with watercolorists Tom Lynch and Keiko Tanabe have reignited her passion for watercolor. Now, surrounded again by the beautiful landscapes and people and wildlife of Arizona she is expressing the joy she feels in her surroundings through her paintings. She hopes she has communicated that joy to you too.
- [Gabriele Bitter](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/gabriele-bitter/) - Gabriele Bitter is a painter, collage artist, artist, printmaker, and art instructor originally from Germany. Primarily self-taught, she also completed completed a three-year art program and has attended numerous workshops to deepen her practice. Her work centers around non-objective abstract acrylic painting and collage work, often incorporating layered textures, quiet colors and the expressive faces of women. A longtime wig wearer, Gabriele brings personal experience into her current series “Bare Beauty”, which features women without hair as a tribute to those living with hair loss or alopecia. Her art explores themes of identity, resilience, and inner beauty— inviting viewers to connect, reflect, and feel. As an instructor, Gabriele encourages play, exploration, and staying present in the creative process. Her philosophy is simple: the more you make art, the more you grow—and perfectionism is overrated. Just let yourself be in the moment.
- [Lauri Harrington](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/lauri-harrington/) - I’ve always been a bit of a creative soul. When I was a kid, I was drawing, imagining, and creating all the time. As an adult, I decided to take the plunge and enrolled in a fine arts program at a college in Traverse City, Michigan. I took classes in drawing, design, and pottery. I did really well and loved all my classes, but I realized that becoming an artist wasn’t going to make me rich, so I decided to switch gears and get a business degree. After moving to Colorado in the 1990s, the beautiful scenery inspired me to pick up the arts again. I started taking pottery classes in Boulder and Golden, Colorado. And then, after I retired in Colorado, I started sketching and also started making landscape quilts. I’ve had a sewing machine all my life, and I have a machine set up along with an art table, so I’m ready to go wherever inspiration takes me. I’m rarely at a loss for something to do. Now, I often find myself watching and practicing watercolor and quilting techniques on YouTube. They’re like rabbit holes that I can’t seem to get out of! I really enjoy them. Since I moved to Wickenburg, I’ve been taking watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting classes. I’ve even been juried into the Wickenburg Art Center for mixed media and have exhibited in a few shows there. In 2025, I was lucky enough to be exhibiting in the West of Center art show at the Desert Caballero Western Museum for the second year in a row. I entered a landscape quilt and two watercolor paintings. My watercolor of Vulture Mountain was even selected to be on the literature for the show!
- [Jane Skaar-Coleman](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/jane-skaar-coleman/) - After graduating from the University of Denver and teaching art for six years, I began painting full-time. Working in watercolor and oil, my subjects are the diverse beauty of the western landscape and its wildlife, animals, and the western lifestyle in Wyoming and Arizona. Major exhibitions have included the Desert Caballeros Western Museum's Cowgirl Up! exhibition, the American Academy of Equine Art , Women Artists of the West, The Mountain Oyster Club, Cheyenne Western Spirit Art Show, and formerly the C.M. Russell Auction and Quick Draw in Great Falls, MT and the top 100 “Art for the Parks” competition formerly held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Her awards include a second place in two-dimensional work at the 46th Annual Women Artists of the West (WAOW) exhibition at the Hanna Gallery in Fredericksburg, TX. Other juried exhibitions include the 48th Annual at the Price Tower in Bartlesville, OK, the 49th National Exhibition at Mary Williams Fine Arts Gallery in Boulder, CO. and 51st Annual held at The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, TX. Her paintings were also juried into the Oil Painter's of America's Virtual Western Regional Exhibition at the Illume Gallery of Fine Art, St. George, UT, and the 2021 Western Regional Exhibition of Traditional Oils at the Mark Arts Gallery in Wichita, KS. Permanent collections in Wyoming include the Governor's Mansion, Wells Fargo Bank, Central Wyoming College Foundation, Bonneville Transloaders Trucking, Inc., Community Fine Arts Center in Rock Springs, the Dubois Museum and Community Headwaters Center, and many private collections throughout the United States and Europe. - [Lloree Ellsworth](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/elementor-5992/) - Art makes my heart feel good. My Path was a Masters Degree in Interior Design. For 20 years i designed model homes. I could not always find the appropriate theme or color palette in selecting art for model homes, so i picked up a paintbrush and started painting. Now that I am retired from the world of design, I continue to receive such satisfaction in painting! Fun, bright, and graphic are "a few of my favorite things." Mixed media is tugging at me right now. It allows one's imagination to travel and be limitless to possibilities. I hope my art leaves a bright spot in your day!

This was the beginning of a journey that would lead me to try out different types of art, each offering a unique way to see and interact with the world. My work. reflects my journey, exploring form, color and material to capture the human spirit and world around us. Each piece is a testament to the power of art and it's ability to reveal new ways of seeing and understanding.
- [Linda Sanders](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/linda-sanders/) - Hi! I am Linda Sanders. I've been a member of the Wickenburg Art Club for many years. I have been a jewelry lover all my life and started making jewelry about 35 years ago. I specialize in using gemstones, pearls, high-quality crystals and sterling silver. Lately, I have been focusing on making Southwestern-style necklaces and earrings using sterling silver and turquoise. I pay special attention to the composition and colors of each precious piece. I shy away from gemstones and metals that aren't genuine. I use professional grade wire for stringing and use special findings to make my jewelry strong and long-lasting. My styles are varied and unique. I have worked full-time as a Wickenburg real estate agent for 31 years and continue to do so, but I find time to do local arts and craft shows and Wickenburg Art Club events. Ten years ago, I started a monthly craft show that benefits the Wickenburg Public Library that supports both the library, the community and the participating artists. My jewelry craft and the other artisans that I have met and worked with over the years have enriched my life immensely.
- [Lisa Lund](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/lisa-lund-2/) - I am a recent transplant to Arizona, and I love it! I have always lived “up north” and worked in several different genres that mostly represented the area in which I dwelled, but I have always been drawn to the art and warm colors of the Southwest. This move has inspired me to experiment with a new genre – metal embossing. By using various metal foils such as copper, aluminum and brass, I emboss them with a multitude of patterns using a rolling press, and color with alcohol inks. Once dried and stabilized with a protectant coat, I then cut them into various sizes and shapes to achieve my design. The mosaic pieces are somewhat like a jigsaw puzzle – I quit to design it and make sure all the pieces fit perfectly. Some of my work will incorporate leather and glass tile beads to achieve a multi-dimensional look. “Art is spiritual for me and brings me a great fulfillment , which I hope is reflected in my work.”
- [Pamela Plummer](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/pamela-plummer/) - I have always been an artist, painting in acrylic, watercolor, pastel and now oil with cold wax medium. I have led a long and successful career in sculpting in stone with my pieces on show around the country. My focus is now abstract art and photography. I picked up a camera for the first time in 2017 when I retired from my medical career as a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency pediatrics in Santa Barbara, CA. I took up photography so I could have a portable art medium rather than bring all my paints etc. on our camping trips around the country. I instantly fell in love with photography due to the many possibilities of composing a photograph as in a paintings striving for simplicity, color harmony, composition, light and contrast. I am self-taught in photography and painting with a few workshops under my belt. I love both the painting and photography mediums and I often combine my photography with my paintings as inspiration or incorporate them together in collage. I have come to love the complex simplicity and the light of the desert. I find inspiration for my art expression from the beautiful sunrises, sunsets and abundance of clouds during monsoon season. I also love photographing flowers with my close-up camera lens and try to capture a vision of a flower that a person does not usually expect to see, a new way to see a flower. When I go to photograph at the rodeo grounds, I try to find a photo that reflects a special moment in time for either the horses, riders or the spectators. I once photographed a bronco rider kneeling in prayer before his ride, that’s the type of photograph I love to capture.

Art and the process of creation is the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing that fills my mind at the end of each day. As an essentially self-taught artist, I have been able to find my own truths and artistic paths along the way. I am naturally curious and fervid when it comes to understanding new techniques, making the self-learning process a challenge I enjoy. Today, I continue with a concentration on the use and application of the many creative software programs that advance creativity, such as digital and original paintings and mixed media collage art. I have found that having a comfort level and understanding of the computer and its sophisticated software has provided an added opportunity for artistic experimentation and problem-solving. Through the years, I have studied printmaking, drawing, painting, and graphic design, and I feel fortunate to have had a very successful career in that extremely competitive field. While art is by nature intuitive and emotive, my process is quite straightforward. I approach each new piece knowing that it requires a correct set of elements bound together with creative resolve, with the ultimate goal being a perfected visual exposition. I am experimental to a considerable degree, but my guiding goal is to create with a combination of intuition and a clear sense of artistic balance.

Oils, oil pastels, acrylic and now colored pencil and pastels have played a part of my progress. Animals have always been my first passion with portraits coming in a close second. In 2018, I started an adventure using feathers as my support with acrylics, after a friend gave me a print of a feather painting of a wolf. In late 2022, another friend started me down a new path with colored pencils and pastels. Now I spend many pleasant hours immersed in pursuing these lovely mediums along with my feathers. It has been an added pleasure to enjoy completing commissions memorializing pets, people and events so important to all of our lives. Or a 2-D artist of any kind! I visited “the club” to find put if they recognized basketry as an art form. Because that’s what I was, a Basket weaver! I was given an unequivocal “Yes”. The club offered all kinds of classes and I decided to do all of them. When I took a charcoal class, I found that I had permission and loved getting “dirty”! A fellow member then guided me toward pastels …. And the rest is history…. That is what the club does so well….teaches, guides, encourages, and supports creativity in the arts.

My style of rustic sculpture began with the love of drawing animals and walks in the country. In High School I was introduced to clay and have been sculpting ever since. In college I majored in art, completing course work at New Mexico Highlands University, Colorado State University and Mesa State in Grand Junction. Over the years I have taken major interest in learning more about ceramics and have attende various classes and workshops. Art is a shared experience. A vision is captured in clay, something we can see and touch. God created wonders for us to behold and I like to show His work in abstract or primitive style, creating a moment in time. My objective is to share that and in the process to improve on shape, color and technique, to continue to experiment in an expressive medium that can be shaped, molded and given life.
- [Celeste Woodes Koper](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/celeste-woodes-koper/) - Bio Celeste Woodes Koper grew up outside of Boston Massachusetts spending most of her summers on Cape Cod. A cross country summer long trip with her facility at the age of 12 changed her view of the world. During that trip she experienced the beauty of nature and all its diversity. Her love of nature, its beauty and moodiness is apparent in her colorful evocative paintings. Paintings depicting the American landscape. Ms. Koper is mostly a self taught painter. She has taken occasional workshops at the Cape Cod School of the Art and Scottsdale Artists School. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections around the world including France, England, Germany and China. Ms. Koper’s paintings have been incorporated into television and movie set designs. Along with her many other accomplishments, Ms. Koper taught art at the Gatehouse Academy in Wickenburg, Arizona during the winter season. She own and operates her own Fine Art Gallery for the past 20 summer seasons in Wellfleet Massachusetts on Cape Code. Ms. Koper presently decides her time between Wellfleet on Cape Cod and Wickenburg, Arizona.
- [Angus Ross](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/angus-ross/) - Bio Angus Ross is a local resident here in Wickenburg, having moved here in 2021 from Newport RI. Prior to that he was a career naval officer (25 years) in the British Royal Navy, before coming to America and the US Naval War College as a faculty member in 1996. He became a naturalized citizen in 2013 and continued to teach at the College until his retirement from full time work in 2021. Today, he continues to teach for the College on-line, in a part-time arrangement from his home. Now that his family are grown and he has a little more time, he has recently re-kindled his love for painting and drawing, something that had to be put aside during a busy career. He was last active (in sketching) in the 1980s, when he took to sketching sights seen around the world during his 25-year naval service. Watercolors are essentially a new challenge for him, and he is thoroughly enjoying the experience. The unforgiving nature of the media, the very “natural” look of the pigments and the wonderfully “fluid” way in which contrast and color are applied, are a source of endless fascination to him. He is currently trying all sorts of subjects, although wildlife, marine scenes and landscapes will probably end up being his favorites
- [Gus Heismann](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/gus-heismann/) - Bio My paintings are mostly with oils, but also do watercolors and acrylics. I started oil painting at the age of 16, painting wildlife on paper plates with an oil paint set that a neighbor had given me. Someday I'll paint that! Now it's time. I am inspired by a lifetime of artistic memories, experiences and want to paint the picture. Retired after 40 years of being advertising art director and graphic designer, I then began to seriously paint. One of my favorite things to paint is photos of history. Finding old black-and-white photos and paint them in my colors. Photos that I have taken from the western history places that I’ve discovered. In high school, I was mostly interested in the art classes and and the drama classes. My formal art education began after high school at the Central Academy of Commercial Art in Cincinnati, Ohio, plus 40 years of advertising art direction and marketing. I like coming back to Wickenburg each winter for the art club, it’s helpful members and being able to paint outside in the AZ desert. Some of my work is exhibited at the Platte Canyon Artist Guild’s Fall Fine Art Show in Bailey, Colorado, also at Wickenburg Art Club’s Fine Art Show and in their gallery.
- [Deborah Nielsen](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/deborah-nielsen/) - Bio Deborah Nielsen works in the watercolor and acrylic mediums. She began her adventures with watercolor and advanced very quickly. This inspired her to begin experimenting in acrylics, which became her second love. Deborah credits her success and love of these mediums to the local art instructors her in the valley, who helped her develop her God given talent. Growing up point eh upper Midwest, first on a dairy farm as a little girl and then becoming a ranchers wife, inspired Deborah’s love and appreciation of animals and the beauty of the country atmosphere. Deborah, along with her husband Larry, is now semi-retired and living oil Wittmann, AZ. She is pursuing her dream of capturing the beauty around her and her love of animals. Deborah teaches both watercolor and acrylic classes on Arizona and for a few months in the summer she returns to Nebraska and helps work the ranch and teaches color classes at a local shop. Deborah is juried onto the Art Club in Wickenburg, AZ and has competed on the Artisan Fair Art show during Gold Rush Days for the past few years where each year she has won honors in both mediums. In 2018 she was also juried into the Glendale Fine Art show with two of her paintings, “Blue Agave” and “Platinum Vintage”, and in 2019 with her painting “Bird of Paradise”, and in 2021 the painting “Tatonka”. The West of Center Art show in the Desert Caballeros Western Museum, in Wickenburg, AZ, also accepted two of Deborah’s paintings, “Chinks” and “Platinum Vintage”, for showing and sale.
- [Carol McRann](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/carol-mcrann/) - Having been born in Phoenix and raised in Wickenburg, Arizona has been my home most of my life. Although, I spent 12 years in wonderful Wyoming raising my 3 children, I was happy to get back to the Sonoran Desert in 1996. Art has always been in my life. My grandfather was an oil painter and my father was a great sketcher and saddle maker, tooling beautiful works of art. I was taught to appreciate artistic ability and quality from them, at an early age. I have also dabbled in oil painting and sketching off and on through the years, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I found clay and it became my passion. In early 2023, I became the chair of the Wickenburg Clay Group. I spend most days at the art club creating and enjoying the friendships I have made there. I also enjoy getting out into the desert to ride our side by side, go camping and rock hounding. My other joy is being the “Nawnie” to 7 grands and 4 great grands. Artistic ability has shown up in my children and now some of my grands. I’m very happy that this part of my heritage is continuing on.
- [Carol Brook](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/carol-brook/) - Bio Carol has always been a creator, starting with sewing doll clothes and then designing and sewing her own clothing. Over the years she has used a variety of mediums with her creative artwork. Her expressive voice is currently through leather. Her passion is to sculpture free-form leather vessels, she works with a variety of leathers and embellishments’ for designing her artwork. The vessels are made from vegetable-tanned leather and are truly a one-of-a-kind creation. The leather has the longevity and beauty only an artisan-created product can sustain. The original fibers of the animal’s hide add to its character making each piece unique along with her addition of dyes, stains and paints. Carol graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a teaching degree, majoring in photojournalism. Upon graduation, her career in the hospitality industry started in Nebraska and crisscrossed the US several times, working for many major hotel companies as well as independent resorts landing in Scottsdale in 1992. Artist Statement Leather inspires me since it offers many possibilities with the different textures and finishes. My vision of how the leather wants its history and story represented is reflected and carried forward in my artwork. At times the hides seem to speak to me on how they want to be portrayed from an artistic viewpoint. I hand select each vegetable tanned leather hide embracing all the holes, markings and texture knowing the original fibers of the hide add character. These unique features are purposely worked into the artwork creating interest and a focal point. This leather has the longevity and beauty only an artisan-created product can sustain. Each vessel is hand sculpted using a wet free-form molding process and dried naturally. My selection of stains, dyes and special finishes makes my one-of-a-kind leather vessels unique. My greatest joy comes from seeing the finished pieces since no two leather hides are exactly alike because each has a different history.

- [Paul Dolter](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/paul-dolter/) - Bio Paul Dolter is a retired Air Force Civil Engineer, and a retired District Engineer for the East Valley Water District located in Highland, California. His keen interest in Photography began in 1968 when he was introduced to photography using 35mm film. Upon retiring from Engineering in 2005, he devoted more time to perfecting the art and craft of digital photography with more sophisticated cameras and computer techniques. This innovative gear has allowed him to transcend the traditional typical photo techniques used by photographers to the more unique renditions only previously enjoyed by gifted artists through their respective media. He has enjoyed photographing a wide variety of subjects such as beautiful western landscapes, colorful Sunsets, interesting people, charming animals and the abundance of incredible artwork created by club members. When appropriate, he has used enhancement tools the emphasize the more distinctive aspects of the subject matter. Paul has entered several local and statewide competitions and has enjoyed receiving numerous awards for his impressive work. In many instants, Paul has sold his work or was compensated handsomely for his photographic services!
- [Cecilia McGuire](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/cecilia-mcguire/) - Cecilia moved to Los Angeles, CA with a degree in Commercial Art from Stockholm, Sweden. She worked at Honeywell, Inc. and at several commercial print shops applying her creative skills as a Graphic Artist. Cecilia moved to Arizona, attended painting classes in acrylic and watercolor at Yavapai College in Prescott. She has received awards at art galleries for her work. Her paintings have sold at Phippen's Western Art Museum store. She is a juried artist with the Wickenburg Art Club where her art has received many awards. In 2016 Cecilia fulfilled a longtime desire of becoming a sculptor and has completed ten bronzes. In 2018, Cecilia was accepted into the 44th Annual Phippen Western Art Show & Sale for painting and sculpture. There she received THE PHIPPEN FOUNDATION AWARD for her bronze sculpture "In Trouble". In 2020 she was invited to participate in the Miniature Masterpiece Show and Sale and in the PAWs Show at the Museum during the month of May, Cecilia also participated in the Phippen Western Art Show and Sale during the Memorial Day weekend! Received the 1st PLACE AWARD in Sculpture with her piece "Saved From The Storm"! It was all done virtual due to Covid 19 safety guidelines! ​She participated in the 48th Annual Phippen Western Art Show & Sale with her bronzes during the Memorial Day weekend in May 2022 and received the very prestigious PHIPPEN FAMILY AWARD for her bronze "MOMENT OF PRAISE"! Cecilia will have all her 10 bronzes on display at the 50th Annual Phippen Western Art Show and sale in 2024. Cecilia's childhood dream was to have horses, which became a reality when she moved to Arizona. Her love for the Western lifestyle inspires her to create art of horses, cowboys and landscapes of the West. She is residing in Hillside, Arizona close to family.

I see designs for my jewelry in nature, animals, and the vibrant Arizona desert. Colors for my work are chosen from the Arizona sunsets, desert flowers, mountains and Native American influences. I design and make all my jewelry as one of a kind. My passion is bead embroidery which allows me to create unique pieces of jewelry. I work to understand the relationship between art & nature and how to apply this to my designs.
- [Wendy Sue Quine](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/wendy-sue-quine/) - I am a watercolor painter and art teacher. I have worked in many media, but my passion is watercolor for its flowing pigments and depiction of mood. Since going from southern California to Arizona, I have fallen in love with the Southwest and its dramatic landscapes and amazing skycaps. While living in Tucson in the 80’s, I was “juried” into the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. For the next 35 years life got in the way with my teaching career, children and who knows what else so my paint brushes lay dormant. Recently, in southern California I was involved in the San Diego Watercolor society. Artists of the High Desert and Redlands Art Association. You might say that my style is “impressionistic realism”. Now that I am seriously painting again, I hope that I am communicating the awe that I experience in the creation around me. If one of my painting helped you sense that awe, I am grateful.
- [Gayle Siegfried](https://wickenburgartcenter.org/portfolio/gayle-siegfried/) - I am an Idaho native, so most of my paintings reflect my love of the mountains that I was raised in and my life-long love of horses. I began painting in 1974, taking tole painting lessons, and within a year I teaching painting. I earned my degree in Art Education and Special Education in 1988. I taught special needs students while I was also teaching private lessons. Teaching art fills my should. When I moved to Wickenburg, Arizona. I discovered a new world of scenery that I have come to love. God has given us such beauty, and I want to honor Him by replicating our world as best as I am able.
